This would be my second time to visit CDO but would experience another adventure this time going to different places and see different things… CDO: The Adventure Capital of the Philippines
Our flight for CDO was at 6:30am on May 22, 2009, woke up around 4:00am to prepare my things and waited for my travel companion to pick me up and then we headed for the airport. Upon arriving at the airport, we checked-in our bags and headed for a café to wait for out flight… after my hot choco we transferred to the departure lounge and waited for boarding then at about 7:00am our flight left manila for CDO. Arriving at CDO airport around 8:00am and was picked up by my sister and her husband and brought us to the restaurant where the rafting ends and waited for our guide to pick us up for the white water rafting.

After changing our clothes for rafting we boarded the jeep and headed for the start of the white water rafting. Upon reaching the start of the rafting, we put on life vests and helmets then got our paddles and was oriented on what to do on the raft… and what I remembered that the guide said was, when you fall off the raft just float and they will pick you up later in the afternoon when they go back rafting again. We were divided into groups and boarded our raft then after a little getting used to the commands started rafting downstream. Our guide told us that the route of the river changed since the flood that hit the area and showed us the level of the water that time and almost reached the bottom of a bridge. (my sister was telling me since she knows the owner of the restaurant at the end of the rafting that the water level reached the ceiling of the restaurant and one of their trucks full of softdrinks was swept away by the flood). After the exciting rafting we ate lunch of lechon baka and mixed seafoods at the restaurant.

after showering off and changing to some dry clothes we headed for SM CDO to check some sand art but when we got there the exhibit was already over. Headed over to the office of
KAGAY at Pres. Aguinaldo St. in the city to get our pictures of the rafting, and after getting a DVD copy of the pictures we headed to Mapawa Nature Park.
MAPAWA NATURE PARK is a vast property owned by the Pelaez’s abundant with magnificent waterfalls, imposing views, and exciting activities. it offers a relaxing environment for those seeking peace and solitude as well as a site for fun and adventure for kids of all ages. You could experience rappelling from our 65-ft. waterfall, take a leisurely ride on horseback and explore their 2490-hectare property, you could relax and dip in natural spring-fed swimming holes or have a go on the gripping zip lines, which is what we tried (the river trek will be our next adventure on our next trip back to CDO).

After Mapawa, we headed back down the road to
Malasag Eco-Tourism Village where you could see a colorful glimpse of the ecology and rich ethno- Filipino heritage of Northern Mindanao showcased through various artifacts, customs and traditions, flora and fauna amidst a reforestation setting. We even tried the hanging bridge there.

After Malasag we went home to the house of my sister to freshen up and went out to have our dinner in a restaurant in Limketkai, then headed back home to rest for tomorrow we will be going to…
